About

An engineer who moved into policy, and never stopped asking how systems work.

Marques Jeevan Menon began as a chemical engineer, working on oil and gas projects before spending three years turning energy technology into measurable savings for building owners across Southeast Asia. That work took the Best Energy Savings Performance Agreement at the National Energy Awards in 2020.

From there he moved toward the places where systems are designed: helping draft policy in the Prime Minister's Department, building programmes for young people and public schools, and leading the EmPOWER programme at Heriot-Watt University Malaysia. Since 2025 he has led strategy and partnerships, building leadership ecosystems with ministries, government-linked companies and corporations across ASEAN, South Asia and the Middle East.

Throughout, he has kept starting institutions. With Zaim Mohzani he co-founded Nation Building School, and the two were named among The Edge Inspiring Young Leaders in 2019. He co-leads the Inclusive AI Association and founded HAYDN-LIAM Energy Intelligence. His writing and speaking return to one question: as AI and automation change how organisations work, how do institutions keep intelligence in service of people?

Drawn in the manner of the old English rolls of arms, the device gives each chapter of the work its own field, with one thread running through the middle.

Leadership ecosystems for the public sector

Designing the programmes that prepare civil servants, government-linked leaders and corporate executives for the complexity of the coming decade, aligned with national plans such as Malaysia's MADANI Economy, Singapore's SkillsFuture and SG60 agenda, and Brunei's Vision 2035.

Designed the Transformative Leadership Programme for civil service and government-linked leaders, with rollout planned in Malaysia and ASEAN. Oversees the strategic opportunity landscape across Southeast Asia for a collective future of possibilities in advancing stewardship.

Energy and sustainability

Greenfield and brownfield oil and gas experience, including the Ichthys LNG Project, paired with multi-million-dollar efficiency and renewable programmes across Southeast Asia: solar, smart buildings, electric vehicles, energy storage and co-generation. Nationally recognised for sustainability excellence.

Energy technology turned into balance-sheet value: a programme that removed 75 MW of energy demand and delivered over RM 80 million in savings for commercial and institutional building owners. Awarded Best Energy Savings Performance Agreement at the National Energy Awards 2020.

AI readiness and governance

Equipping leaders across sectors with a strategic understanding of AI ethics, governance and human-technology collaboration, to future-proof how workforces are led, and working to make AI literacy a national baseline for every Malaysian.

Developed and launched an AI leadership studio, the first of its kind in the world. Co-leads the Inclusive AI Association. Earlier, integrated AI and machine learning into an education platform serving more than 10,000 users.

Education and opportunity

Access to education and employability, from free STEM classes in public schools to a four-level soft-skills programme that prepares graduates for an uncertain world.

Raised close to RM 300,000 over three years for the EmPOWER programme's IMPACT partners at Heriot-Watt University Malaysia. Led EDU+, giving 300+ public-school students free STEM classes, 100 a month.

Public policy and regional cooperation

Socio-economic blueprints, policy roadmaps and intergovernmental partnerships that connect Malaysia to ASEAN Community Vision 2045, the UN Sustainable Development Goals and BRICS+ cooperation frameworks.

Drafted the policy roadmap for Indian youth in the Prime Minister's Department, aligned with the Malaysian Indian Blueprint. Initiated the proposed international Economic Enhancement Programme.
